Question of the day
I am an island in North America.
For Canada, I’m considered densely populated.
People refer to me by my initials.
Cavendish is my mist visited town.
I am connected to the mainland by Confederation Bridge.
My pastoral scenery includes signature red dirt.
Chefs everywhere want to get their hands on my mussels.
Anne of Green Gables calls me home.
What’s my name?
How many clues did it take you to figure it out?
So it begins…

The beginning of every year holds so much promise and inspiration. We’re surrounded by those who want to start new chapters, move beyond normal and become bigger then before. So this year I’ve decided to join them (and you if the case may be). As a new leaf turns in my life and I hope that I will not only learn from all of you but that I might have a chance to also share and teach from my life. That being said I want to start this first post with how my business came to be.
Three years ago, in a galaxy far far away, ok maybe not far far away, I was blessed with a dream. A dream that one day I would be able to pursue whole heartedly what I love and live off of that passion. It began with my husband, my inspiration. For our first anniversary he gave me my very first DSLR. I have always loved taking pictures and would steal away with my mom’s camera only for her to find out later that there were pictures on her role that she didn’t take (yes mom that was me). My older sister graduated with her degree in photography and of course being the only willing person, I ended up in front of the lens. This sparked me to try photography myself. I took a class and used a simple point and shoot Nikon Coolpix. In fact this picture (which I’m hesitant to share) is the final picture I took of my first portfolio for class, which coincidentally is where Jonathan and I first realized we liked each other…which is a whole other story
.
Now I was hooked, every time I could get my hands on a DSLR I was behind it instead of in front of it. Fast forward a couple of years and I just knew that this was something that I could and wanted to do for the rest of my life. Everywhere I looked I say things through the lens. So for our first anniversary the love of my life gave me what would soon become the second greatest love of my life my Nikon D40.
I practiced, and practiced, and practiced. I trained with my sister-watched, observed and learned. Assistant wedding photographers and soaked up everything I possibly could. But it wasn’t enough, I knew I was meant for more. So after a lot of time (and many butterflies and into the wee hours of the morning convo’s with J) we decided that it was time, time for me to birth this dream which started so long ago. So on July 27th 2010 I opened the doors to my very own legitimate photography business.
My photography has come a long way since those humble beginnings but it took each and everyone of those photos to shape where I am, who I’ve become and what I am both as me and as a photographer. And yes I have finally learned to call myself just that “Photographer”.
